Sri Lanka Visa Process (for Tourists, Business, and Transit)
Sri Lanka has a relatively simple Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system for most visitors. Here’s how it works:
1. Choose Your Visa Type
Tourist Visa: For sightseeing, visiting friends/family.
Business Visa: For attending meetings, conferences, etc.
Transit Visa: For layovers under 48 hours.
2. Apply Online (ETA System)
Go to the official ETA website:

What you’ll need:
Valid passport (with at least 6 months validity)
Return/onward flight ticket
Credit/debit card for payment
Steps:
Select visa type (tourist, business, transit)
Fill out the application form
Pay the fee online
Receive ETA approval via email (usually within 24 hours)

3. Arrival in Sri Lanka
At the airport:
Show your ETA approval
Present your passport and return ticket
Immigration officer stamps your visa
Visa Extension (Optional)
You can extend tourist visas up to 180 days:
Apply at the Department of Immigration & Emigration in Colombo
Or use their online e-visa portal
Pay the extension fee
